My November Reading Round-Up
This month I read 15 books. I’ve listed them below with star ratings, link to the full review (if I wrote one), and a short description.
Lost Ark Dreaming by Suyi Davies Okungbowa
This book is best read while fishing on a boat. If you fall asleep, you'll dream of running through darkened hallways towards the light. Don't forget to breathe.
The Mystery Guest by Nita Prose (Molly the Maid #2)
A cozy murder mystery with our favourite maid and her sweet-as-honey colleagues from the Grand Regency Hotel.
Starlight’s Shadow by Jessie Mihalik
Overall this is a fun, sci-fi series, perfect for people who loved the Firefly TV show or the new Star Trek films.
Hollow by Karina Halle
A dark Legend of Sleepy Hollow retelling with top tier kink romance.
The Blighted Stars by Megan E. O'Keefe
An action-packed, hard sci-fi conspiracy adventure with a rivals trapped on a dying planet. Also there are space zombies (it's not what the book calls them, but yes, space zombies, and they're terrifying)
Calamity by Constance Fay
A fast-paced, hard sci-fi space adventure with open door M/F romance.
2023 is the Year of the Pirate
From 40 year old single mother pirate captains, to a vampire and mermaid pirate love story, this list will have something for everyone.
Deep as the Sky, Red as the Sea by Rita Chang-Eppig
This book is best read in a fish market, by the ocean on a warm spring day with a light breeze. After you've finished, make sure to get your fortune read.
Dark Water Daughter by H.M. Long
An atmospheric, dual POV, wintery fantasy pirate adventure with a powerful female main character.
The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi by Shannon Chakraborty
A reluctant female pirate captain is coerced into one last sea adventure and the results are magical.
Ghost Station by S.A. Barnes
This book is best read while isolated on a dead planet, trapped with strangers, by storms. All the more opportunity to read without interruption.
Top reads to celebrate 200!
I’ve read 200 books this year. Here are some of the stand outs.
The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy
An enemy to lovers romance, with interdimensional zombies and a talking rabbit with a drinking problem.
Satan’s Affair by H.D. Carlton
If you're in the mood for dark (gory) romance (?), with an unhinged FMC, then take a chance on this novella.
Bookshops & Bonedust by Travis Baldree
This book is best read while you're recovering from an injury/illness, sitting in a well-loved chair, while eating fresh baked goods. Oh, and if the book suddenly opens up a portal into another dimension, definitely reach your hand through and see what you can find.
Merciless Waters by Rae Knowles
An ethereal folklore re-telling, incandescent with female rage.
Christmas and Other Horrors: An Anthology of Solstice Horror
Ho-Ho-Horror! This holiday horror anthology begs you to no let the Christmas spirit in.
