The Seventh Bride by T. Kingfisher

⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

A beautiful dark fairytale for adults.

A young girl is taken from her poor farming family and told she is to marry a Lord. From there magic, monsters, witches and golems keep the pacing quick and interesting.

The young girl arrives at her husband -to-be's manor only to find he has wives already living there! He's taken something from each of them and if she wants to survive, she must find a way to escape before her wedding day.

A great bedtime story with found family, strong women supporting women, and a cute hedgehog.

This story is best read in the kitchen, while eating bread with cheese. Don't forget to look out the window for monsters every once in a while. Oh and don't sit near the clock.
