The Lucky Ones by Tiffany Reisz

⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

Great insular psychological thriller with a satisfying ending.

At eight years old, Alison is fostered into the large, gothic home of a respected brain surgeon. She is one of many children in the house until a few years later she wakes up in the hospital after a fall down the stairs. As an adult she's plagued with doubt about whether she fell or was pushed and goes back to the house to find out for sure.

Through Alison's POV she uncovers long hidden secrets about the house, the kids and the doctor who fostered them all.

This book is best read on a rainy day, by the window and far away from stairs.
