Morgan Is My Name by Sophie Keetch
⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
A compelling new adult feminist introduction to the legend of King Arthur.
I don't know anything about the legend of King Arthur, but received this book as a gift from someone who loves and has read many of the Once and Future King books. This book is a prequel, where we only meet Arthur at the last 20% of the book when he's 17 and he's a background character to his sister Morgan's life.
This book mostly takes place when Morgan is in her mid teens to early 20s, which gives is an upper-YA/New Adult feel, which usually isn't my style and kept me from giving it five stars. If you love YA/New Adult, then you'd probably love this. It reminded me a bit of Circe by Madeline Miller, about a young woman stepping into her power in a world dominated by the power of men.
The writing was compelling, the characters were really interesting and now I want to read more about this legend.
This book is best read in a small library of the nunnery you’re studying in, while your best friend urges you to hide the book from the abbess.
