God of Malice (Legacy of Gods, #1) by Rina Kent

⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

A solid dark college romance, with a morally gray MMC.

The spicy scenes were fun (read: dark and unhinged, which I enjoyed), and the plot and story set-up moved quickly. I flew thought this book in a matter of days. Our MFC is both a psychopath and a genius, but it seemed a bit convenient that he’s at college but don’t need to study or go to class. I think it’d believe it more if he wasn’t a teenager. But I love the social circle built around our FMC and MMC. The scenes with the FMCs friends and the MMCs family were actually my favourites. I will keep reading the series because I found those characters so compelling.

Take note of trigger warnings if you are a sensitive reader or if you haven’t read dark romance before. Especially the opening chapter, it won’t be for everyone. There is non-con, dub-con, choking, spanking, D/s, as well as blood, gore and violence outside of the bedroom.

If you liked The Ritual or Haunting Adeline, then you'll find yourself in good company here. I can't figure out why I wasn't drawn to our MMC the same was I am to the MMCs in the other books, but it was still a fun read. Would recommend to any dark romance lover.

This book is best read by the edge of a cliff in the middle of the night, surrounded by fireflies. If you feel eyes watching you in the dark, you're probably right, but don't stop reading.
