Fiasco by Constance Fay

⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

A fast-paced, hard sci-fi space adventure with open door M/F romance.

A perfect follow-up to Calamity (book one of the Uncharted Hearts series), although I think you could read Fiasco as an interconnected standalone and be fine.

We met Cyn Khaw briefly in Calamity, when she was undercover trying to rescue a woman from a cult on a deserted planet. In this book, she is our strong, capable, bounty-hunter FMC and her newest bounty requires her to be back on the Calamity. And yes, the eyes of Micah, the ship's medic, are just as dreamy as she remembered.

This is a high-action, slow-burn romance with lots of angst. It was a joy to listen to and exactly what I wanted.

Romance tropes
- One (bunk)bed
- Forced proximity
- Road trip (but in a spaceship)
- He's only soft for her
- Her grandma loves him
- She doesn't have nightmares when she sleeps beside him

Paige Reisenfeld is back doing the narration for the audiobook and I was so glad to see it. She did a great job switching between the male and female cast, making it easy to identify the characters based on their voices. There are a lot of characters so she really had her work cut out for her here. I think I liked her voice for Micah better than if they had cast a man in the role!

I hope there is a book three in this series, because I will definitely read it.

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the ALC.

This book is best read before changing your name. But know that love will find you no matter what.
