The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet (Wayfarers, #1)by Becky Chambers

⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

A cozy sci-fi, with low stakes and high hopes.

I love hard sci-fi, and if you do, you'll love this too. Through our Earth-born human main character, Rosemary, we meet the ragtag crew of a ship that 'punches holes in space' to make space travel faster between solar systems.

The crew is made up of humans and aliens. Becky Chambers shines when introducing us to different alien species, their cultures, home planets, languages and body types. There are a lot of comic moments and the whole story feels like we're taking the 'long way'. Do not come here for fast pacing and intense moments. Instead, just buckle up and enjoy the ride.

This book is best read while hitchhiking in a VW van along the coast of the universe.
