Peter Darling by Austin (S.A) Chant
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
These are happy tears 😭
A spellbinding return to Neverland, where a grown-up Peter Pan murders a bunch of pirates and finds his true love.
This is Peter Pan like you've never seen him before, and yet, this is the truest version of Peter Pan I could ever imagine. After leaving Neverland, Peter returns with his brothers to the real world/London, where his parents refer to him as 'Wendy'. He is about to be married off, disowned and unable to see his siblings again when he calls to Tinkerbell and returns to Neverland.
This story is beautifully written, it has moments of humour and levity, balanced with the heaviness of identity, first love and belonging.

My favourite quotes
"The crown made Pan look like a lazy young god, his curly hair spilling out under and over the golden rim."
"Clothes, adventure and a worthy opponent," Hook said, shooting him a look. "Who could ask for more?"
"Your obsession is flattering Pan. And I share it." "Obsession?" "Is that not what they call it," Hook said, "when two men can think of nothing but each other?"
"I'm the spirit of youth and joy, remember?" "You're a grown man and a nuisance." "I'm your nuisance, Peter said."
This book is best read on the bow of a pirate ship. Stay light on your feet, you never know who is trying to kill you (or kiss you).
