A House with Good Bones by T. Kingfisher

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

Haunted house perfection by one of the greatest authors of the genre.

Our main character is a science PhD fellow visiting her mother, who lives in the generational family home. When weird things start to happen our smart, strong-willed main character is sure there are reasonable explanations for each one.

T. Kingfisher does an amazing job of making the walls feel like they're closing in on us as we continue to read. It's an insular book brimming with incandescent female rage, amazing plus-sized representation and a beautiful mother/daughter relationship.

This book is best read in your rose garden, while watching the handyman caulk your window frames to keep out the swarms of bugs that keep finding their way into your home.
